Doodle 4 Google 4 oodles of cash
My kids love to doodle. Pen, pencil, crayon, whatever the writing implement and whatever the paper surface (yes, even mortgage statements). If they were just a tad older, I'd put that doodling talent to good use for the annual doodle contest put on by Google. Especially because the prize is pretty darn awesome. This Doodle 4 Google contest is a search for the kid in K-12 who can draw the most imaginative doodle for Google's famous home page logo, while answering the question, "What I'd like to do someday..." I love the idea of getting kids to flex their creative muscles while also thinking about what they want to do when they grow up. (FYI--I wanted to be a sports broadcaster and/or marine biologist. Writer comes close, right?) The best part is that the winner will receive a $15,000 scholarship and a $25,000 technology grant for his or her school. All the details can be found on the Google blog, but get cracking--entries need to be postmarked by March 16, 2011. Oh, and Whoopi Goldberg is one of the guest judges. That alone is reason enough to enter. -Jeana
